Facebook Developer Camp in Toronto

I will be attending the FacebookCamp Toronto event on Tuesday August 7th. This meeting brings together developers interested in the Facebook platform in the Toronto area.

So far there are almost 300 people attending and Facebook (who is now sponsoring the event) is sending two staff members to chat with us. It looks to be a fun night.

GotAPI - All of your RIA Reference material in one spot

I just came across a great web site that has already saved me a ton of time when developing rich internet applications. GotAPI is a site that aggregates reference materials for different programming languages and web technologies.

Personally I have been spending time working with Flex, PHP, and Drupal. With this site I can easily add these three technologies as tabs to the GotAPI home page and quickly get all the information I need about each technology while staying on the same site.

Clearing Adobe AIR HTML Cookies

If you have been working with the HTML control when building an Adobe AIR application you may be wondering how to clear its cookies.

Arul Prasad posted an article in his blog about this issue. If you look at the comments, Mike Chambers sheds some light on the situation:

"AIR picks up cookie settings from the operating system, and not the browser. It just happens though that some browsers also use the operating system settings / cookies."

New Tutorial: Uploading Files from Flex using PHP

Uploading Files from Flex using PHPI uploaded a new tutorial that shows how to easily upload files using Flex. You will create a Flex application to choose a file from your local hard drive and then upload that file to a remote web server using PHP.

Here is the link: Uploading Files from Flex using PHP

New Facebook Application Name Restrictions

After creating a handful of Facebook applications over the past few months I have never had a problem assigning them names. It seemed that Facebook was cool enough to let you put anything there even the word Facebook. I had many sample applications like "Testing Facebook Authentication."

Today I was editing this application and when I tried to save my settings it warned me that this application name was invalid since it contains the word 'face'.
